Chronic Fatigue & ME/CFS

Based in Booragoon,

We help with the management of fatigue, as a common co-occurring symptom of hEDS/HSD, as part of the neurodivergent experience, or as commonly paired with persistent pain.

We also support those with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or ME, is a disabling condition which impacts your whole body and the processes of developing energy.

It is characterised by extreme fatigue or worsening of symptoms following exertion, which we call PEM (Post-Exertional Malaise).

Other common symptoms of ME are widespread pain, dizziness, issues with temperature regulation, GI problems, food or medication sensitivities, light sensitivity, among others.

(Notice the similarity of symptoms from hEDS/HSD…)

The current guidelines on managing ME/CFS tell us that graded exercise programs can be detrimental and are no longer recommended. Its very important not to push into exercise for people with ME.

Physiotherapy can help:

  • Get you back inside your window of tolerance by reducing stressors

  • Movement strategies and supports for when you do need to move

  • Pacing

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Supporting other symptoms like pain and orthostatic tolerance
